My new tank!

Purple up is the stuff they rinse off of reef sand! Not really but I think it is a waste of money. I am testing Reef Fusion 1and 2 by Seachem.

They sold me some stuff called PurpleUp coralline algea accellerator, I think its for the same thing.  Told me to use it once a day for a week.  Has anyone ever heard of this stuff?

I just did the full gamut of tests for the first time.

SG: 1.026
Nitrate: 0
Phosphates: 0
Total Alk: 3.5 meq/l
Carbonate Alkalinity: 2.5 meq/l
pH: 8.2
Calcium: 425
Magnesium: 1500

Going to have to dose Carbonate Alkalinity every day until the consumption slows down, things are already starting to turn purple.

My new tank!

My kh stays very consistently at 9dkh and my calcium at 440 (dipping slightly towards water change time every 2 weeks). I have coralline growing to the point I'm having to scrape it off the front and side glass every few days. It took about 6 months of my tank re-establishing its self after moving it and balancing and then suddenly the coralline took of like mad.

I've also noticed it's encrusting the hard part of coral skeletons. For example I have a couple candycane frags that had white skeletons when I got them and they are now purple (or pink or kinda blue... I have different colors going). Same candycanes have spawned 2 or 3 heads a piece in the couple months I've had them. :)

I keep testing and waiting to see either my kh or calcium take a hit as my corals grow (I actually have a few stony corals now including a ORA Miami Orchid that is growing like a weed). So far it's holding steady so I'm not dosing anything. I'm kinda dreading reaching the point where the growth in my tank outstrips what water changes will replace.
